  • •  Membership that includes insurance coverage.
  • •  Ability to participate at the world famous ESPN Wide World of Sports.
  • •  Travel, make new friends, continue education, and create unforgettable memories.
  • •  Membership in an organization long recognized for its position in amateur sports.

AAU basketball is unique because of its competitiveness, unorganized, fast pace playing environment.  A young person has a chance to play his whole entire amateur basketball career with one club from 8 to 17 yrs old. This is very different from playing sports in school where you don’t always have the chance to play with your friends from others school on the same team. Our goal is that kids are raised in our culture from early athletic development and grow up in our system of play.

Austin Comets Athletics participates in the Central District of the AAU sports organization. As a Division member of the AAU, Austin Comets has the opportunity to qualify for the AAU District, Super Regional and National Championship tournaments.

Austin Comets Athletics sports teams adhere to the National Federation of State High Schools Association rules when participating in competitions/tournaments.

We are an official youth organization for the governing body of the USA National Basketball Association. As an affiliate organization we have access to insurance, basketball curriculum and other tools and resources.

Additional training and education is given to our Comets coaches by completing online certification courses with the American Sports Education program (ASEP).

The AAU has partnered with PCA to become the first national sports organization to require all its coaches to obtain PCA Double-Goal Coach® training and certification.
